Identifying these signs is as easy as telling spam from non-spam.

  • the site is about an e-book, or, for the advanced trickers, about an online service that provides a lot of help for enthusiast people
  • the text addresses you, the reader, who are lucky for finding this “secret” page, which is only available for simple people like you
  • the words FREE, MONEY, INSTANT, NOW, FAST, SUCCESS and ONLINE are always highlighted, bolded or larger than the rest of the text
  • there is a lot of red and yellow along the content, and also a mix of fonts and sizes
  • the author shows off a smiley picture of himself and more, if it’s a woman, her picture will repeat a couple of times throughout the long scrolling presentation of the e-book and, even more, it will show a variety of successful business poses
  • the picture of the “product” is an automatically generated e-cover, intended to look as shiny and glossy as possible.
  • the e-book is on sale at a very special offer, available in such a limited number that you need to buy it NOW

Identifying these signs is as easy as telling spam from non-spam. Still, many people let themselves tricked by this. The phenomenon is even more dangerous when it comes to extending this kind of marketing into social networks. Facebook and Twitter are for some people only places where they excessively throw their spamming ads. But this will be discussed in a further article.

Hoping I haven’t become too technical with the above list, I’m returning now to the initial question that brought me to write this article: Is Article Marketing a treat or a trick? Isn’t it rather a well covered excuse to advertise links? Of course, more thorough research and analysis needs to be done on the topic since years of marketing experience have brought online practices to this step and it doesn’t take a single article like this to deconstruct it.

My advice: Stop fooling yourselves with Article Marketing tricky theory!
